Fab four as relay lads run race of their lives to smash club record at top event

FOR the first time in several years, Livingston and District Amateur Athletic Club were represented at the National Junior Relay Championships.

The club’s under 15 boys team competed in the 4x100m relay event at the prestigious meeting which was held at Pitreavie Stadium last Sunday.

The event was staged as part of the Scottish National Senior Championships weekend.

The Livingston team have been unbeaten in every league match so far this season, so the national championships were a chance for the members to challenge teams from the biggest clubs throughout Scotland.

And the boys didn’t disappoint with a superb display against some of the country’s top runners.

In a hotly contested final, the four runners — Andew Boxall, Scott Miller, Shawn Wright and Scott Henderson — gave the performance of their lives to finish fifth in 50.51 seconds.

The Livingston lads came home behind teams from Edinbugh AC (1st), Ayr Seaforth AAC (2nd), Pitreavie AAC (3rd) and Giffnock North AAC (4th).

Many thanks must go to the hard work the boys and their coaches have put in over the last month perfecting their changeovers.

Their finishing time of 50.51 was not only a season’s best by several seconds, but they smashed the under 15 boys 4x100m club record, previously set at 51.66s in 2002.
