Five-a-sides throw up a fine night of drama

WEST Lothian’s Prostar community 5-a-side Superleague saw Barely Livingston defeat Whitburn Wasps 10-4 in the opening match of the night.

The game set the tone for an evening of superb football with plenty of goals and action.

Sverige FC were too strong for newcomers Boggatedale as they swept to a 16-1 success to continue their push for the league title with just a few weeks of the season now remaining.

They are still two points behind Farcelona after they saw off Athletico Pathetico 8-3 although Sverige do still have a couple of games in hand so the title is going right to the wire by the looks of it.

YMOT FC locked horns with AC Red Diamonds and produced a powerhouse display as they ran out comfortable winners which maintains their recent run of good form.

Hardly Athletic huffed and puffed and eventually blew Dykes’ Boys house down as they ran out 8-5 winners.

Real Sosobad did battle with Westfield Wanderers and emerged 9-4 winners as they continue their quest to catch the top two although it looks increasingly unlikely as Sverige and Farcelona don’t look like slipping up.

League Secretary, Paul Spacey, said: “The business end of the season is now upon us and it should be exciting over the next couple of weeks as the title race comes to a climax.

“The new season will see the league split into two divisions with 16 teams taking part in total.”
