Libraries may hold the key to getting the right career

JOB seekers are being urged to visit their local library to find out about employment opportunities.

Careers Scotland is joining forces with West Lothian Council Library Service and the Strathbrock Partnership Centre to host open sessions throughout the summer.

The team from the Careers Scotland Centre in Livingston felt it was important at this time of year – with so many young people leaving school and the credit crunch affecting everyone – that they should give people the chance to speak to them in their local area.

Qualified Careers Advisers and Employment Advisers will be available at Strathbrock Partnership Centre in Broxburn on Tuesdays from July 14 to August 4 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm; Linlithgow Library on Tuesdays July 21 and August 4 from 10am to noon; Whitburn Library on Wednesdays July 22 and August 5 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm; Armadale Library on Thursdays July 23 and 30 from 10am to noon; and at Bathgate Library on Wednesdays July 29 and August 5 from 10am until noon.

Advisors will be available to provide advice and information to help find the right career for you, help with the skills needed for CVs, application forms and interviews, support to develop your job search skills, and information and advice on courses and training opportunities.

No appointments are necessary.
