Pupils in the swing for golf lessons

PUPILS at Donaldson’s School received a tee-rific donation of 50 golf clubs by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club in support of their new golf classes.

Coach, Willie White, who is also a school janitor, is teaching golf within the PE curriculum.

And the pupils were thrilled to receive the clubs as part of The R&A’s golf development work.

Speaking about the donation, Principal, Janice MacNeill, commented: “The new golf lessons are proving really popular with the pupils and this donation is a great way of helping them get into the swing of our national game.

“The trip to St Andrews to receive the clubs was a brilliant finish to our school year.”

Donaldson’s is Scotland’s national school for children who are deaf or have speech and language difficulties, from the ages of two and a half to 19.

The school is one of seven Grant-Aided Special Schools (GASS) supported by the Scottish Government and is a charity owned by the Donaldson’s Trust.
