A LOCAL politician is urging county people to use the summer holidays to visit some of West Lothian’s tourism attractions.
Linlithgow MSP Mary Mulligan, is encouraging people to take in at least one visit to a local landmark or attraction during the course of the summer.
Her Linlithgow constituency is home to many first rate tourist venues and places of local interest.
There is historic Linlithgow Palace with the surrounding Loch and Peel, excellent local museums in Annet House, Linlithgow and the Bennie Museum in Bathgate, the quiet attraction of Torphichen Village and Preceptory, terrific options for outdoor adventure such as Low Port Centre or the Linlithgow Union Canal Society, as well as country parks and walks.
Commenting on her call for people to visit a local attraction over the summer months, the MSP said: “It does not matter if you are holidaying at home or abroad this year as the summer is long enough for most people to get the chance to visit a local attraction.
“We are really fortunate to have such a great range of local tourist attractions and I know that visitors will be warmly welcomed.
“I hope that people will get out and about and visit a local attraction this summer, I know that I will, and I am sure that many people will be amazed at what is waiting to be discovered on their doorstep.”
