BATHGATE Rotary Club is pleased to announce the appointment of its first female president.
Since the club began in 1953 it has traditionally been a male members club, with a male president leading its activities.
However the club is delighted to now have Agnes Ritchie as its first lady president.
Agnes (pictured), from Seafield, is chief nurse for NHS Lothian's head and neck directorate and is based at St John’s hospital in Livingston.
For Rotary, Agnes is a renowned fundraiser, helping to raise thousands of pounds for projects like Mercy Ships, End Polio Now and the David Gordon Memorial Hospital in Malawi.
And this year Agnes and the club will fund a health visitor in Nepal as well as serving the Bathgate community through various projects.
