First class effort will aid

BATHGATE posties are among a group of fundraisers who are set to take part in a charity challenge this summer.

A team of managers from Royal Mail Group are taking part in Barnardo’s Scotland’s Cairngorm Challenge in August.

The team of five cluster managers, who cover Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Scottish Borders, are training hard to raise funds for Barnardo’s Scotland.

And they hope their efforts will inspire others to join in with the challenge.

John Milne, cluster manager for Bathgate said: “We hope our efforts can encourage other Royal Mail Group staff in West Lothian to take part in the Cairngorm Challenge or other sponsored events taking place throughout the year to raise vital funds for the children’s charity.”

The Cairngorm Challenge will take place on Saturday, August 29 and the event includes a 15km hike up Cairngorm, Scotland’s sixth highest Munro, and a bike route through Glenmore and Abernethy forests.

Royal Mail Group Ltd and its employees have been taking part in various events for the children’s charity since the launch of the three-year charity partnership with Barnardo’s Scotland earlier this year.

A spokeswoman for Barnardo’s added: “The event is a lot of fun, and very rewarding – especially for the children who will benefit from the funds raised .

“We would love local people to be part of it and we’ll provide them with all the support they will need to take part.

“The money you raise in Scotland stays in Scotland.”
