WEST Lothian Council staff has begun to move into new headquarters in Livingston’s newly-opened Civic Centre.
The council’s chief executive Alex Linkston and senior managers led the move on Monday with council teams from West Lothian House, Lindsay House, Lammermuir House and other buildings migrating over the coming weeks.
All councillors will be located in the Civic Centre from September 28, while Lothian and Borders Police and the Scottish Court Service have already moved.
West Lothian Council’s chief executive, Alex Linkston, said: “The council move to the Civic Centre is the final step in the vision of a cohesive public sector working together in an efficient and effective way to benefit local people in West Lothian.”
Sandra Aird, West Lothian Council’s head of customer services, added: “The migration to the Civic Centre has been planned over weekends in order to minimise the disruption to customers and colleagues.
“The Council Information Services (CIS) centres will not be affected – apart from Bathgate CIS, based in Lindsay House, which moves on October 23.
“The office will re-open on Monday, October 26 at 8.30am at 5-9 Edinburgh Road, Bathgate, which is sited across from the Fairway and next to the BP garage.
“Bathgate CIS centre will close for one day Friday 23 October, to allow us to transfer to the new location.
“We hope that customers will understand that the move is necessary to allow work to start on a new council building in the centre of Bathgate.
“During the building period our advisers will continue to provide local access to all council services including cash collection at their new location.”
Customers requiring access to council services from 4pm on Thursday, October 22 until 8.30am, Monday October 26 can e-mail customer.service@westlothian.gov.uk, visit any CIS centre, or telephone the council’s Customer Service Centre, 01506 775000.
Help and advice is also available online: www.westlothian.gov.uk.
Work on the new council building in Bathgate is expected to be completed in 2011.”
