Guide will help enable Armadale development

PLANS to revamp a West Lothian town have been shown to the council’s executive.

The Armadale Public Realm Design Guide has been unveiled by Ironside Farrar in response to a brief prepared by the council.

During its development the guide was subject to extensive consultation within the council and with the local community.

The process identified a number of key priorities such as improving the gateways and entrances to the town, new signage, improved parking facilities, and improved building and street maintenance.

The report provides a sound basis for improving the public realm and building design within the town.

The guide will be adopted as supplementary planning guidance to be taken into account in development management decisions in the town.

Council Leader Peter Johnston commented: “The Council Executive welcomes this document.

“ We are committed to improving West Lothian’s traditional towns and this new Public Realm Design Guide for Armadale provides a focus for the town’s regeneration over the coming years.”
