A WEST Lothian school is to net a goal when it hosts a special fundraising match next weekend.
A team of pupils, staff and former pupils from Donaldson’s School is gearing up to take on former professional footballers from Hearts FC on Sunday, October 11.
The Hearts Legends match will kick-off at 3pm at Linlithgow Rose FC, Prestonfield, to raise funds for the school.
Players confirmed include Gary Mackay, Henry Smith, Scott Crabbe, Jimmy Sandison, Brian McNaughton and Steve Boyack, with other players yet to be announced to join the line-up.
Boys and girls from Donaldson’s will take on the coveted role of ball boys and all proceeds from the event will go to the school.
Commenting on the event, Donaldson’s fundraiser Gillian Sinclair said: “Everyone is very excited about this event and under captain Jimmi Cumming, a former Donaldson’s pupil who has worked at the school for more than 15 years, our team has been practising hard to give the Hearts Legends a run for their money.
“It is a huge honour to be able to bring former players from such a prestigious club to Linlithgow and we are hoping for loads of local support to cheer our team on.”
Tickets for the game are available from reception at Donaldson’s 01506 841 900 reception@donaldsons.org.uk or at the gate and are priced £5 for adults and £3 for children and concessions.
