Family centre given honour

STAFF from Broxburn Family and Community Development Centre have been celebrating after receiving national recognition.

The organisation received a commendation for achievements in development, promotion and training in the field of play.

The award was received from the Nancy Ovens Trust at its annual awards ceremony.

The trust promotes national best practice in children's play provision through their Nancy Ovens Play Awards, which are now in their sixth year.

It was awarded the Best Community Award for Play for its Range Adventure Playground back in 2004.

The Family Centre received their commendation for championing training for play work in the natural environment.

Raymond Branton, the centre’s general manager, said this reflected their own exciting, adventurous and challenging activities with children.
