Outdoor fitness centre is now open

LETHAM Park in Livingston is one of the first in West Lothian to have an outdoor fitness centre installed.

The new facility is set to improve community access to health improving equipment.

Councillor Robert De Bold, executive councillor for the environment, said:

“Encouraging healthy living is an ongoing and important message for today’s society.

“We hope that this new fitness centre which has been designed for 12 years and above will encourage everyone to try it out and that it will become a very sociable pastime.

“The compact fitness equipment that has been installed in Letham Park has been developed to support the need for cross-generational fitness provision.

“It allows people to meet, socialise and become physically active and makes training and informal workouts accessible because it’s free and local.

“The equipment is already proving to be very popular with users of the park and the functions include twisters, steppers, sit-ups, pull downs, bench press and rowing and the fitness area is covered by a roof.”
