Country walks focus on fungi

COUNTRYSIDE experts are set to lead a special walk this weekend.

Almondell and Calderwood Country Park will be the venue on Sunday, October 18, when West Lothian Countryside Rangers will be leading an exploration into the world of fungi.

The walks start at 2pm at Gasworks Brae, Bank Street, Mid Calder when people can find out how these strange life-forms can exist by recycling food locked up in dead plants and how to identify a few of the more common types.

Cost adult £2 or child £1.
