Legal eagles are flying high after latest national honours

A LIVINGSTON Criminal Law Firm has been honoured at a prestigious national Law Awards ceremony for the second year running.

Adams Whyte, who are based at Grampian Court in Livingston and were crowned the Scottish Criminal Law Firm of the Year in 2008, have now followed up that success by being voted Client’s Choice of Scottish Law Firm of the Year for 2009.

The firm, who specialise in criminal defence, were presented with their latest award last month at the national Law Awards of Scotland in Glasgow.

These independent Law Awards, seen as the Oscars of the legal profession in Scotland, are billed as a “celebration of fantastic thinking and brilliant execution” and the ceremony is regarded as the premier event in the legal calendar.

Adams Whyte were nominated and then short-listed for this year’s award on the basis of a nationwide poll of 4,500 clients of leading Scottish law firms.

The poll identified Adams Whyte and fellow West Lothian firm Central Criminal Lawyers as two of the top five highest scoring firms of solicitors for client satisfaction.

But at the awards ceremony in Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel it was Adams Whyte who were crowned the best in the land.

Gerry Bann, one of the firm’s founding partners, said after picking up the Client’s Choice award: “Everyone at Adams Whyte is delighted to have won these two major awards and to have done so one year after another.

“Last year’s award was special because it was judged by a panel of legal experts.

“What makes this year’s award special is that, this time, we have been judged by clients and, in fact, clients of law firms of every size and type from all across the whole country.”
