Goods worth £2000 stolen in depot raid

THOUSANDS of pounds worth of goods were stolen from a building site last weekend.

Sometime between 6.30pm last Thursday (October 8) and 6.30pm the next day, three storage containers at the Carillion building site for the Bathgate to Airdrie rail link, were broken into.

And thieves escaped with a generator, a Stihl saw, transformers and drills, with a total value of around £2000.

Police are keen to trace a black four-wheel-drive vehicle which was seen close to the scene of the theft.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information on it should contact Bathgate Police Station on 01506 652323, or contact Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.

Police carried out a crackdown on vandals who have targeted buses in a West Lothian community.

Officers joined forces with bus operator First Bus to host the operation last weekend.

And as a result of the crackdown, two youths aged 15 and 16 were apprehended.

The youths were charged with several offences, including breach of the peace and culpable and reckless conduct.

The police are continuing to ask members of the public to be vigilant and report any offenders who they know have caused damage to buses, ensuring that bus services to the local areas are maintained.
