TWO local soldiers marched out in aid of their colleagues by organising a fundraising walk.
Retired squaddie Tony Rutherford, and his friend Scott Bryson, who is serving with 6 Royal Regiment of Scotland, held the walk at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, in aid of Help for Heroes and The Mark Wright Recovery Centre in Edinburgh.
And the pair, who were joined by friends and family along the way, have raised over £1000.
The pair, both from West Lothian, were keen to do something to help charity.
Tony said: “Myself, a retired soldier with 7 Commando Royal Artillery and my friend Scott Bryson who is currently serving with 6 Royal Regiment of Scotland, decided about three months ago that we wanted to do something for charity so we decided to go for Help for Heroes and raise money for The Mark Wright Recovery Centre in Edinburgh.
“We’ve still to collect our money but numbers look promising.”
And the pair have decided they want to keep up their fundraising efforts in the coming months.
Tony added: “Next year Scott and myself are helping out again for Help for Heroes by walking from Edinburgh to Glasgow with full back packs on.”
