A CAT who has suffered years of neglect is looking for a new home to help her build up her trust in people again.
Amy was reported to Cats Protection West Lothian by a caring family who had found her scavenging for food in their garden.
They were feeding her and her little kitten and were very worried about her.
Cats Protection experts managed to bring little Merlin the kitten into foster care easily, but it took the volunteers a further five days to trap Amy as she was very wary of people.
The vet has aged her at about six-years-old but the years of producing litter after litter has taken its toll and she looks a lot older.
When she was spayed, the vets found serious internal problems caused by having so many litters of kittens, to the extent that another litter would have killed her.
It’s thought that her previous owners had got tired of her having kittens and just abandoned her to fend for herself.
And now that Amy’s kitten has been rehomed to a loving family, Cats Protection would dearly like the same for her.
They believe she has been the victim of cruelty sometime in her life, and she will need time to build up trust with humans again.
She is looking for an experienced new owner who will help her build up that trust and give her the loving home she deserves.
