Community service opens door to public

A COMMUNITY service has held an open day to highlight their work.

Carmondean Connected in Livingston have been developing and expanding their services.

An open day was planned, inviting members of the local community to come along to see and meet the different partners currently offering services within the building.

Over 300 people came along to meet and chat with representatives from the library, housing, Access to Employment, Locality Planning, Waste Management, Nets, Neighbourhood Response, Advice Shop and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The day also gave visitors the chance to visit the library which offers a wide and varied selection of services – including books, newspapers and magazines, free internet and wi-fi, overnight DVD rental, photocopying and fax services and free computer classes.

Among the other new services are a food co-op which has recently moved from the health centre and now operates from Carmondean Connected every Thursday from 9.30am to 1pm.

And visitors also had the chance to see how the CIS telly talk service operates in linking customers with council advisors at the Contact Centre and the Payment Kiosk.
