Enjoy disaster movie for free

IT has been a while since the Earth was under threat from some apocalyptic disaster.

A few years ago the cinema was packed with end-of-world flicks such as Deep Impact, Armageddon and The Day After Tomorrow.

And the genre is being spectacularly revisited in 2012 the latest blockbuster to hit the screens at Livingston’s Vue Cinemas.

And readers are today being given a chance to view the film for free.

The film tells the story of a world facing up to the fact that life will end on December 21, 2012 as predicted in the ancient Mayan calendar and now confirmed by scientists as fact.

But as the fateful date looms ever closer and tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and typhoons begin to cause devastating destruction, desperate efforts are made across the world to try to prevent or prepare for what is now becoming the inevitable disaster.

Jackson Curtis (played by John Cusack), a divorced writer and researcher trying to survive the cataclysm with his daughter, draws on his knowledge of ancient writings to keep them and others who have managed to survive alive.

Directed by Roland Emmerich, the man behind Independence Day, the film is sure to be a smash at the box office when it opens.

2012 is released on Friday, November 13 and has been given a 12A certificate.
