FUNDRAISERS got in the saddle and collected thousands of pounds for charity.

Thirteen members of staff together with family and friends from DS Smith Packaging based at Houston Industrial Estate in Livingston, got on their bikes to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support.

And they collected £4288.50 by taking part in their 50-mile cycle challenge from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

The event was the brainchild of Robert Waterson and Ian Pirritt and they had great support from their colleagues as well as managing director, Mark Dewhurst, who also took part in the event.Š

Mark said: “This was a great team effort, for a great charity and we would like to thank all of our sponsors for supporting the event.”

Fiona said she was delighted to accept the cheque from the charity.

She said: “The support which D S Smith Packaging have given Macmillan by organising this event is brilliant.Š

“The money raised will make a real difference to the lives of local people living with cancer in West Lothian by helping to fund Macmillan’s services, ranging from specialist nurses and doctors to support and advice for people who have financial problems because of their cancer.

“Without the generosity of companies such as DS Smith Packaging we could not continue to fund these services which are vital to our clients.”
