Tamsin wins her school loads of lolly

A MID CALDER Primary School pupil won a prize for her fellow pupils in a national road safety competition.

Tasmin Macdonald secured runner-up spot and £100 for her school in the competition run by baking firm Kingsmill.

Kingsmill launched the initiative to champion creative talent in Scotland’s primary schools, inviting teachers to incorporate the competition into a fun educational lesson.

Pupils were asked to write a story explaining why their school crossing patroller was the best in Scotland and why they deserved to win a luxury weekend away.

Tamsin was up against competition from all over Scotland, with entries from Inverness to the Borders.

Kingsmill delivered a giant cheque for £100 to Mid Calder Primary School on November 10, and Dionne Eadie, the firm’s new business manager commented: “We were delighted with the number of entries received.

“However, Tamsin’s entry deserved a runner-up spot as it was a warm and heartfelt piece and captured her lollipop man as a pillar of the community.”
