West Lothian residents pay tribute on Remembrance Day

HUNDREDS of people lined the streets of West Lothian on Sunday for the annual Remembrance Day parades.

In Bathgate, the parade of around 300 people assembled at 12.30 accompanied by The Bathgate Band.

Local politicians including MSPs Mary Mulligan and Fiona Hyslop and councillors, Jim Walker, John McGinty and Willie Boyle joined veterans, members of the Territorial Army, Air Training Corps, Army Cadet Force and Boy Scouts joined the procession.

Another 200 joined the group at the war memorial and Reverend Dennis Rose and Father John Robinson conducted the service, before wreaths were laid.

Members of Livingston’s branch of the Royal British Legion were joined by local scouts, brownies, army cadets and military police in the parade to the memorial in Livingston town centre.

Lady Lieutenant Isobel Brydie joined Angela Constance MSP, councillors Graham Morrice and Willie Dunn, were joined by Inspector Stephen Elliot of the police.

Broxburn and Livingston Brass Band and Livingston Pipe Band accompanied the procession.

The service including two minutes’ silence was held before wreaths were laid at the war memorial at the civic centre.
