Car park rental to be higher

A RENT review for the Vennel Car Park in Linlithgow has been agreed with the council.

The yearly rent has been set at £50,500, an increase from the present level of £43,000.

The deal, which has taken two years to agree, will be backdated to June 2007.

Martyn Day, executive councillor for development and transport with West Lothian Council said:

"The council entered into a lease with Town and City Car Parking Limited in June 2002 for a period of 10 years at an initial rent of £43,000 per annum (net of VAT) with a rent review clause stating the rent would be reviewed on June 1 2007 to the full market value.

"I am also pleased to confirm that at the council's request the tenant has agreed to relocate the two disabled spaces from the corner of the car park closer to the entrance and provide an additional four spaces which will mean six in total and I'm sure will be welcomed by users of the car park facility."
