THE local authority has agreed to lease one of their properties to a new business in Linlithgow.
West Lothian Council have agreed to rent out shop premises at 4 The Vennel, Linlithgow, for use as a Kilt Hire and Scottish gift shop.
Executive councillor for development and transport, Martyn Day, said the council is keen to attract new businesses to the town.
He said: “We are very pleased to confirm that the lease has been awarded to Mark and Charles Chisholm for use to hire kilts, Highland outfits and Scottish giftware.
“While this wasn’t the highest bid we also have a policy of discouraging uses which compete with an existing tenant in a council shop in the near vicinity, to protect the business activities of existing tenants.”
