New book will turn back the pages for gala centenary

ARMADALE Children’s Gala Day celebrates the 100th birthday in June.

And to help start the official celebrations the committee have published a book of Gala photographs.

The booklet includes an image of every Queen back to 1911 and lists all the champions and those who have been crowned as well as pictures from throughout the decades.

The booklet is now on sale priced £4 from gala “headquarters” at Rings and Things and from other outlets in the town.

Gala president Stuart Borrowman said: “The committee wanted to honour all our predecessors who have run the gala over the decades.

“We felt a collection of photos going back to 1907 would show just how much work has been done and how many people have had pleasure form the gala.

“We hope people like the booklet.”

Next year’s event is being sponsored by Armadale Station Community Development.

Sandra Carter from SDA Ltd, the developers behind the Armadale Station Community Development, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring Armadale Children’s Gala Day, which for nearly a century has been a much loved event in the town.

“Our development, planned around the station, will be as integral a part of Armadale as the Gala Day is, and we hope that our sponsorship will ensure that everyone has a fantastic celebration next year.”
