New road name to honour twinning link with Germany

A NEW road in Livingston is to be given a special name to mark 37 years of a special partnership between West Lothian and Hochsauerland in Germany.

The road, which leads from Howden Road South to the Civic Centre, is to be named Hochsauerland Brae. Councillors agreed the move at the Council Executive.

A group from Germany will visit West Lothian on November 25 to take part in the official opening of the Civic Centre. Hochsauerland Council’s Depute Provost will also take time out to open the brae.

Jim Walker, executive councillor for culture and leisure, said: “The twinning arrangement between West Lothian and Hochsauerland has been incredibly successful.

“The naming of the new road is a small gesture of friendship to our close friends in Germany.”
