Road traffic charges against former Livingston FC boss dropped

THE Crown have dropped road traffic charges against Angelo Massone following an Intermediate Diet at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

The former Livingston owner had denied charges of failing to stop after a collision between his car and another vehicle in Henderson Row, Edinburgh, on November 29 last year.

It was also alleged he failed to give his name and address and failed to report the accident to the police within 24 hours.

Mr Massone, who is now back in Italy after selling his controlling stake in the West Lothian club, did not appear at the Intermediate Diet.

Defence agent, Graeme Clark, said his client maintained his not guilty plea, but The Crown had a motion to make which was not opposed.

Sheriff Elizabeth Jarvie, QC, was told that the case was being deserted and the trial, which was due for November 27, was dropped.

Earlier this year he was banned from driving for a year and slapped with an £800 fine after admitting being drunk in charge of a car.
