THE Five Sisters Zoo is welcoming a special guest next weekend.
Terry Bowes, director of Wetheriggs Animal Rescue and Conservation Centre near Penrith will be giving a talk about rescue and conservation on Saturday, November 21.
His talk will describe the work of his rescue centre and how this ties this in with conservation issues.
Terry has many years experience in animal husbandry and management, and he has worked as zoo manager and head of mammals at various animal and wildlife parks, is a committee member of various species studbooks and has worked on re-establishing Przewalski’s horses in the Gobi Desert.
He has also won two gold medals for a number of first breedings in captivity.
Wetheriggs Animal Rescue and Conservation Centre is a registered charity that cares for a variety of animals that have come from various situations.
The talks last 45 minutes and take place between 11 and 11.45am, 12.15 and 1pm, 1.30 and 2.15pm and 2.45 and 3.30pm.
There is £1 donation to attend the talk, no booking is necessary but numbers are limited to 20 people per session. Entry to the zoo is £6 for adults, £4.50 for concession and £4 for children.
