Appeal issued after dog escapes from rehoming centre

ANIMAL welfare experts are appealing for help to find a dog who escaped from the charity’s centre.

Poppy a two-year-old female greyhound was rescued by Loanhead charity Gracehounds three months ago and was being taken to Dogs Trust’s Rehoming Centre at West Calder.

However, she managed to slip from her harness and ran away.

Poppy’s carers say she is a very frightened dog who is very wary of strangers, particularly men.

Only a couple of sightings of her near Brucefield area have been reported.

And Susan Tonner, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust West Calder said: “We are very worried about the well-being of Poppy and are appealing for anyone who has seen this wee black greyhound passing through to phone and let us know.

“Lois who loves her and cared for her for the last three months will be able to call her to her when we know where she is.

“Because Poppy is so scared of people we think she will stay away from built-up areas.”

Poppy has now been missing since Monday, November 16, through the terrible weather and with nothing to eat.

The public’s help in locating her is vital and staff at Dogs Trust would urge people to call on 01506 873459 or 07989 963556.
