Jewellery stolen during spate of house raids

THOUSANDS of pounds worth of property was stolen during a spate of thefts across the county.

Thieves struck at a house in Linlithgow, when a house at Laverock Park was broken into say police.

The house was raided sometime between 7.40am and 5pm on Monday (November 16) and a laptop computer, other electrical items and jewellery were stolen.

A house in Bathgate was targeted by criminals on Monday.

Between 10.15am and 4.20pm, the house in Starlaw Terrace, was broken into and a quantity of jewellery and cash was stolen with a total value of around £800 according to police.

Police are also looking to trace the occupants of a white van, possibly with red lettering on the side, which was seen in the area at the time of the break-in.

Houses in Livingston were also broken into recently.

Between 1.30pm and 6.30pm on Monday, two houses in Eliburn and one in Livingston Village were broken into and jewellery, televisions and games consoles were stolen by the thieves.

Police officers investigating this crime say that any information on the theft should be passed to Livingston Police Station on 01506 431200, or to the confidential Crimestoppers number.

Police are also reminding householders to ensure that all doors and windows are properly locked at night and when the premises are empty.

They also recommend the fitting of security lights to the outside of homes where this is possible.
