West Lothian College students have Children in Need nailed

BEAUTY students at West Lothian College nailed fundraising when they held an event in aid of Children In Need this year, inviting donations in return for fun and glamorous nail painting.

The students visited locations throughout Livingston, including ASDA, the designer outlet and The Centre to raise £1340 by carrying out fun nail painting.

Thirty-five beauty students offered a range of nail designs from plain, coloured and special ‘Pudsey Bear’ nails, while dressed in their pyjamas.

Usually based at West Lothian College’s Platinum Salon, the students decided to put their skills to good use in a bid to raise money for the national event.

Laura Johnston, beauty lecturer from the Creative centre at West Lothian College, said: “It is great to see our students support charities, such as Children in Need.

“They worked incredibly hard to raise the money, and put to use the skills developed through their course to give back to the community.

“I am very proud of the amount they raised, it is a testament to their dedication and hard work.”

Students Louise Hannah, Paige Melville and Kat Adams presented their cheque to Children in Need at the BBC Scotland Headquarters in Glasgow on Friday, November 22.
