WEST Lothian College’s health and safety training provision has been recognised at a prestigious awards ceremony for the second year running.
The annual Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) awards ceremony recognised the college at the Apex Hotel in Edinburgh.
The college currently runs over 14 REHIS courses and from January, will be the first college in Scotland to run two-day REHIS Managing Risk in the Workplace certificate.
The programme will cover areas including assessing, identifying, controlling and reviewing risks in the workplace outlining the principals of the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act.
The course recognised at the REHIS annual awards ceremony was the four-day REHIS Intermediate Health and Safety course, aimed at supervisors addressing health and safety requirements in the working environment.
West Lothian College employee Christine Paterson was recognised at the ceremony for her achievements on the course.
Christine, who is a health and social care assessor at the college, completed the course in January and received the joint second highest mark in Scotland for the final exam alongside Jim McIlravey, Maintenance fitter at NYNAS UK.
Mhairi Laughlin, principal of the college, said: “We are delighted to once again have a student recognised at the REHIS annual awards ceremony and praise Christine for her hard work.”
