STUDENTS who have been learning how to get on the career ladder were celebrating at a special graduation ceremony held in their honour.
Those taking part in West Lothian College’s Get Ready for Work Course — aimed at disengaged young people between the ages of 16 and 19 looking to gain the essential skills needed for employment — graduated last week.
Learners spent 12 weeks in the college learning skills in subjects including catering, joinery, engineering and painting and decorating, as well as developing team working, communications, and IT skills.
After successfully completing half of the course in college, learners then progress on to a 12 week work placement in an industry of interest.
Special awards were presented to Alex Gallagher (18) from Broxburn, in recognition for Learner Engagement and Participation and Alan Wright (18), from Armadale, for Outstanding Personal Achievement.
Alex and Alan are now on work placement until the end of February as are their fellow classmates.
