THERE’S no doubt that this winter will go down in history as one of the coldest on record.
With freezing temperatures and several inches of snow, many people have found it difficult to get around.
Driving and even walking conditions have posed serious problems across Scotland, and in many cases people have been left unable to leave their homes.
But we’ve often heard stories of people who have gone to the aid of people in need or generated community spirit – whether it’s the person who has made sure their elderly neighbour has enough shopping, the person who has helped a motorist dig their car out of the snow and ice, or the community which has pulled together to keep their street clear of snow.
Now we at The Courier, are keen to hear from you about how you or your neighbourhood has been helped by a caring person.
Whether it be a friend, neighbour or worker who went beyond the call of duty, we want to know about the way they helped you during the big freeze.
And there’s £100 worth of High Street vouchers available for the most caring person we hear about.
So if you know of someone that you feel deserves some recognition, please send your nomination (including the nominee’s name, your name, address, phone number and if possible, e-mail address) to West Lothian Courier Big Freeze Heroes, 20-22 King Street, Bathgate, EH48 1AX or e-mail wlothiancourier@s-un.co.uk.
Closing date for entries is Friday, January 22.
Usual S&UN competition rules apply.
