WEST Lothian Council say they are on track to deal with the county’s unemptied dustbins.
Local residents had complained that bins were not being emptied during the recent severe weather.
But the council say that while collections have been hampered by the snow, and recent industrial action, they are doing their best to ensure refuse is disposed of.
A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “Bin collections have been running later than normal. The council’s Waste Services are rapidly catching up with the missed bin collections and are now working through streets which were previously inaccessible.
“Normal refuse collection service will be resumed as soon as possible.”
A number of Waste Services and Street Cleansing employees began ‘working to rule’ at 7am on December 8. This will continue until further notice.
In the meantime householders are urged to, leave the bin out on the kerbside until it is emptied and ensure all waste is contained within the bin and the bin lid is fully closed or it may not be emptied.
Excess household waste or recyclables should be taken to any of a Community Recycling Centre at Broxburn, Blackburn, Linlithgow, Whitburn, Deans or Oakbank (off A71) in Livingston.
The recycling centres are open as normal from Monday to Friday 8am to 8 pm and Saturday/Sunday 9am until 6pm.
The brown bin collections have now re-commenced throughout the district.
