POLICE are still hunting for a sneaky thief who made off with deliveries of mail in Blackburn.
Investigating officers say that some residents could miss out on vital mail after the opportunist thief grabbed two sacks of letters and a Royal Mail caddy last Saturday while the postman was delivering on Blackburn’s Bathgate Road.
The suspect ran away towards the Mill Shopping Centre.
The trolley was found there a short time later but the contents had been taken.
A police investigation has been launched and Inspector Michaela Kerr said: “Crimes such as this carry many victims - people in the community who will not receive their mail which will result in inconvenience and unnecessary distress.
“This is particularly galling when we know most of the letters will be of no value to the suspect and will end up being discarded.
“I am sure the local community will be keen to support the police in their efforts to identify the culprit and bring him to justice.”
Police have issued a description of the man involved. He was said to be around 20-years-old, 5ft 8ins tall and slim. He was wearing tracksuit bottoms and a black long-sleeved top with white writing.
