River Kids want people to walk on fire to raise funds for the charity

CHILDREN’S charity River Kids are looking for fearless people to walk on fire for them.

The charity wants brave members of the public to get sponsored to walk across 20 foot of wood embers burning at 1256 degrees to raise funds.

The West Lothian based charity has teamed up with the Premier Inn in Bathgate where the event is being held on the evening of Saturday, March 6.

In the run up to the evening’s exciting Firewalk, Premier Inn are also putting on a free, family fun day running between noon and 4pm, which will raise funds for both River Kids and WaterAid.

All activities at the fun day will be free of charge apart from the fun fair rides and stalls. There will be fairies face painting, colouring in competitions, the Broxburn Athletic Colts FC coaches will be organising football games to test ball skills, fun fair rides, free Indian head massages and free snacks.

The Firewalk starts at 6.30pm with registration and participants will be finished by 9.30pm.

The event’s organisers says the company behind the Firewalk has an impeccable safety record and will conduct a two hour training session with participants. Proven psychological methods will be used to prepare volunteers for the challenge on March 6 with organisers insisting those taking part will experience no pain or injury. Those involved can bring friends and family to watch the event which should be a really great fun evening for everyone.

Participants need to raise a minimum of £130 each to take part and they can get a sponsorship pack by texting ‘FIRE’ and their name to 07884 436 050 by Wednesday, March 3.
