PUPILS at a Bathgate primary school are banking on success by helping organise their school’s savings scheme.
Children in P6 at Balbardie Primary School, are to help run the weekly credit union collection.
Six pupil volunteers have learned how to collect money and update passbooks.
And they will soon work alongside staff and parent volunteers at Blackburn, Seafield and District Credit Union’s Thursday morning collections.
To launch their involvement with the credit union, the children held a presentation at their school assemblies encouraging pupils to start saving.
The six presenters – Cameron Gemmell, Iona Morrison, Jordyn Macdonald, Louise Spalding, Prentis MacLean and Rhys McGrath – explained that credit unions are local organisations, but are part of a worldwide movement that spreads around the globe.
Head teacher, Audrey Ford pointed out that children throughout the school are getting to grips with money.
