Longridge Primary set for facelift

AN investment programme of almost £1.4 million has now got underway at Longridge Primary School.

The project will radically improve the facilities at the school for pupils and staff .

And the major upgrading work will also provide exciting new community facilities for local people.

Executive councillor for culture and leisure with West Lothian Council is Jim Walker and he says that the project will be of real benefit for everyone at the school as well as the members of the community.

He commented: “The project will provide excellent new facilities for the school and the local community.

“Having the building joined up with the school will make such a difference.

“ We are really looking forward to closer links with the community.

“We’ve got great plans for making use of the facilities.”

Improvements which will be made include a new community hall, a teaching base, a general purpose room, changing and improved toilet provision.

The extra teaching spaces are part of the council’s commitment to class size reduction.

Work is due to be completed in August 2010.

Karen Gardner Secretary, Longridge Community Education Centre Association, added:

“It is a good day for Longridge. We can now see the beginning of this new facility that will provide modern community and education facilities that are much needed.”
