Bathgate Academy’s enterprise award success

A TEAM of teenagers from Bathgate have secured a hat-trick of awards at a Young Enterprise trade fair.

The Academy’s team, Technikids, took three titles in the annual fair in Edinburgh recently.

The company was formed in September 2009 as part of the Young Enterprise Company Programme and members decided to educate children in a fun and vibrant way by creating an audio CD accompanied with a small book to introduce children to a language through storytelling.

The final product, ‘Percy Parrot’s Learn a Language: Someone New At The Zoo’, tells the story of Percy’s search for the new animal at the zoo and is offered in French, German and Spanish.

Each audio CD also has the story in English and the small book provides the option to read along.

Following various sales at school Christmas Fairs in and around Bathgate, the group took part in the trade fair.

And Technikids returned to Bathgate Academy with the awards for Best Sales and Marketing, Best Product and Best Company.

Technikids must now compile an End of Year Report and attend a presentation evening.

And the team hope for just as much success as the Trade Fair at future award evenings, Technikids may even make it to the YE European finals.

‘Percy Parrot’s Learn a Language’ is still available to buy in all three languages – French, German and Spanish.

The product is priced at £6 for one, two for £11 and three for £15 and can be ordered fromTechnikids@hotmail.co.uk
