College’s business event

BUSINESS dealings were given a boost thanks to a special event at West Lothian College.

The college held a Speed Networking event earlier this month to mark the official launch of their Business Partnership Centre.

The event welcomed representatives from over 80 companies across Edinburgh and the Lothians, allowing the business community and local employers the chance to promote their organisations and discuss ways in which they can work together to strengthen opportunities.

The networking event also gave organisations the chance to find out how the Business Partnership Centre at West Lothian College can help their business grow, through professional development courses and work-based training.

College staff were on hand throughout the event to discuss business improvement techniques, including problem solving and workplace organisation, bespoke training, and conference and venue hire.

West Lothian College has worked with numerous organisations, providing courses and training, to help them achieve high levels of success, and prides itself in forming long-lasting business partnerships.

The skilled training team at the Business Partnership Centre can help to increase growth and prosperity, efficiency and employee motivation.

Previous successful business partnerships with West Lothian College include Livingston Designer Outlet, BSkyB and Johnson and Johnson Medical Ltd.

Speaking at the recent Networking event, Sharon Adams, Business Improvement Leader at Livingston-based Johnson and Johnson Medical Ltd, discussed the company’s involvement with the college and praised them for their collaboration work delivering SVQs.

The centre was officially opened on February 10, by Mhairi Laughlin, principal and chief executive of West Lothian College.

Principal Laughlin said: “We were thrilled with the success of the networking event, marking the official launch of our Business Partnership Centre.

“It is wonderful to see so many local businesses interested in working together.

“The event was also an excellent opportunity for businesses to find out what we have on offer. Our centre can provide organisations with tailored training qualifications accredited by bodies including IOSH, REHIS and CIPD.

“Through improved workforce performance we aim to help improve business efficiency and outcomes.”
