A WEST Lothian policeman, his wife and son have appeared in court accused of drug offences.

Constable Derek McLeod, who was based at West Calder Police Station was denied bail and remanded in prison over claims he produced and supplied cannabis as well as breaching the Official Secrets Act.

The 41-year-old is accused of abusing his position to pass on sensitive information between June 3, 2009, and May 12 this year.

McLeod, who has been suspended from his duties with Lothian and Borders Police, has also been charged with producing and supplying cannabis, as well as facing a charge under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

His wife Jemima, (41), and son, also Derek, (21), have been charged with producing and supplying the Class B drug, as well as having money which is suspected to be the proceeds of crime.

They, along with Mr McLeod appeared in private on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

During brief separate and private appearances from custody on petition they made no plea or declaration before Sheriff Derrick McIntyre.

McLeod senior was remanded in custody, while Jemima McLeod and McLeod junior were released on bail. All three are expected to appear again in court next week.
