NINETY school pupils have been rewarded for their good school attendance.
West Lothian Council presented the youngsters with certificates and prizes for attendance of 96 per cent attendance and above.
Andrew Miller, Executive councillor for education, congratulated the pupils and presented them with their awards.
Pupils attended the ceremony at St Kentigern’s Academy in Blackburn with their parents or carers and school representatives.
The awards were presented to the primary seven pupils in each school who had the highest record of attendance throughout their primary school career.
Awards were also presented to the highest S4, S5 or S6 leaver in each school who had the highest record of attendance throughout their secondary school career.
Five of the pupils presented with watches achieved the remarkable record of 100 per cent attendance.
They were: Sarah Cleland of Boghall Primary School; Aaron Spencer of Cedarbank School in Ladywell, Livingston; Ewan Boath of Peel Primary in Eliburn, Livingston; Fraser McMillan of Bathgate Academy and Sean Douglas of St Margaret’s Academy in Livingston.
In total, 1402 pupils in West Lothian who had achieved 96 per cent or above attendance throughout their primary or secondary career were recognised by receiving certificates.
Executive councillor for education, Andrew Miller, said: “I’m delighted that we continue to recognise these young people for their impressive achievements.
“They have clearly demonstrated their commitment to education and if they carry forward that level of dedication and hard work into their further education and careers, they will reap the rewards.”
