AFTER years of organising exhibitions for club members, the four tutors of Livingston Art Association have decided to get together and form a new group.
Linda Lincoln, Janice Wilson, Jean Lothian and Yvonne Hutchinson, who call themselves ‘4th West’, had their debut exhibition in Edinburgh’s Gladstone’s Land Gallery.
The exhibition ran from Tuesday, July 27 to Sunday, August 1 and was very successful.
Jean commented: “It is the first time we have grouped together like this and it has been very exciting. I hope this is the first of many.”
Steeped in history the gallery, in Edinburgh’s Lawnmarket, was a perfect setting to showcase their work. The four artists have very different styles which blended well and complimented each other perfectly.
Linda added: “After organising many exhibitions for our members we felt it was time to branch out on our own. We hope it will be the start of many such ventures.”
The exhibition has been in the pipeline for some time and since booking the venue six months ago the four have worked hard to be ready for Tuesday’s opening.
Janice voiced her observations saying: “We have had lots of visitors from all over the world and many positive comments throughout the week, both verbally and in our visitor’s book. A lot of cards and unframed prints were sold as they were easier for tourists to transport back abroad. It is something to bear in mind for next time.”
The exhibition was excellent and it was great to see four such talented West Lothian artists displaying their work in the heart of the capital.
