Drunk fined for breach of the peace

A DRUNK who caused a breach of the peace at his former partner’s home has been fined.

Paul McNelis turned up at his ex-lover’s Livingston home under the influence of alcohol shortly after 5pm on July 3 this year.

McNelis began banging and kicking on the door and shouting “phone the police”.

The former partner arrived home shortly afterwards and asked him to go home but the 39-year-old sat at the doorway, preventing her from getting in.

The police were then called.

Last week at Livingston Sheriff Court McNelis, of Hillhouse Crescent, Kirknewton, pled guilty to causing a breach of the peace.

His solicitor, Kevin Dugan, said: “None of his previous convictions are for domestic breaches of the peace.

“He had been due to meet her when she had finished work but had gone for a drink with his friend. A World Cup match was on and I think he had too much to drink.”

Sheriff Ian Anderson fined him £325.
