Police investigate rape in Bathgate

POLICE were this week urging witnesses to come forward after a teenager was raped in Bathgate.

The 18-year-old reported the rape after being attacked in the Acredale Car Park near George Street at about 2.30am last Friday.

Officers investigating the attack are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area to come forward.

The teenager is believed to have been attacked as she walked alone through the car park.

Detective Inspector Phil Gachagan said: “We will be continuing with our inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the assault.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area, particularly patrons of the Twig nightclub who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, to contact the police.

“Similarly, anyone with information that can assist the investigation is asked to come forward as soon as possible or contact Livingston police on 01506 431200 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
