RESIDENTS across West Lothian have taken to the internet to keep each other informed during the Big Freeze.
People have been using social networking site Facebook to update each other on school closures and road conditions.
One site ‘What’s Going on in West Lothian’ has attracted over 3000 members.
The page was set up last Monday following the heavy snowfall when West Lothian Council’s website crashed under heavy traffic and their Facebook page was suspended.
As well as posting travel and school closure updates, the neighbours are sharing information about events and things to do with children who are off school.
Several Courier readers contacted us to praise the work being done by the administrators of the page.
One woman said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to all the administrators of this page. The updates received from members and administrators have helped keep many of us informed the last few days.
“It is a community page and it has shown just how much community spirit there is in West Lothian.”
Rosie Stephen added: “Residents post updates on loads of different aspects of West Lothian from school closures to roads and where to get bread and petrol.”
And keeping up to date with all the news in West Lothian couldn’t be easier now as the Courier has joined Facebook.
Join us online where we will be posting updates on what is happening in the county and you can let us know of anything happening that we should know about. You can also post photographs to be included in the paper and click on links to website stories.
