THOUSANDS of pounds of investment are paying off at three West Lothian gyms.
West Lothian Leisure have invested over £220,000 to refurbish their Xcite facilities in Linlithgow, Livingston and Craigswood.
The revamped facilities re-opened shortly before Christmas and plans to expand and improve the leisure facilities at Bathgate and Whitburn are also set to go ahead later in the year to meet customer demand.
The gyms have new equipment, air conditioning, wall finishes, floor coverings and decor.
They are also fitted-out with all freeview channels for customers to use whilst they burn up the calories.
West Lothian Leisure hopes that the fresh, relaxed look of the gyms will attract customers who have never used a gym before.
Robin Strang, West Lothian Leisure’s general manager, said: “All of our equipment has been replaced with the most up-to-date kit and the look and feel of the gyms has been hugely improved.
“The previous equipment served our customers well over the years but there comes a time when we need to make improvements.
“We are delighted with the refurbishments and hope that customers enjoy their fitness experience.
“Going along to a gym a few times a week can make a huge difference to the health and wellbeing of customers.
“Gyms aren’t only for fit people – the majority of our customers are looking to improve their health and we have the ideal facilities to help them achieve their goals.”
Jim Walker, executive councillor for culture and leisure, added: “The new facilities are very impressive. I especially like how users can take part in numerous challenges like Tour de France or New York Marathon, where on each visit they will either cycle or run a part of the route and then start from where they left off on the next visit.
“It is an excellent addition for people to have and makes it much more interactive. I am sure that new and existing gym users will be delighted with the improvements.”
