School pupils presented with award for attendance

PUPILS from across the county were rewarded for their school attendance at a special ceremony.

Eighty-four pupils, with attendance records of 96 per cent or over, were presented with gift tokens and certificates by executive councillor for education, Andrew Miller.

Boghall Primary School pupil Emily Lynch achieved a remarkable record of 100-per-cent attendance.

Also present at the award ceremony were the pupils with their parents or carers; Mary Rankine, head of education (quality assurance); councillors and school representatives.

The awards were presented to the primary seven pupil in each school who had the highest record of attendance throughout their primary school career and to the highest S4, S5 or S6 leaver in each school who had the highest record of attendance throughout their secondary school career.

In total, 1335 pupils in West Lothian who had achieved 96 per cent or above attendance throughout their primary or secondary career were recognised by receiving certificates. Councillor Andrew Miller commented: “On behalf of West Lothian Council I would like to congratulate all of the pupils in West Lothian, and their parents/carers, who have very high attendance records.

“The pupils who are receiving awards today are great ambassadors for their schools and communities.

“In particular I would like to congratulate Emily on the remarkable achievement of 100 per cent attendance at primary school.”
