OAPs robbed by con artists

POLICE have issued an appeal for information after an elderly couple were robbed of their savings by con artists.

The 78-year-old man and his wife (75) were in their home in the Balbardie area of Bathgate at between 11am and noon on Friday, November 4, when a man called at their door.

He asked for access to the house to check the water and was shown into the kitchen but a second man then entered the house and stole a three-figure sum of money from an upstairs bedroom.

Both suspects are described as white, 30 to 40-years-old with slim to medium builds and spoke with polite English accents.

A police spokesman said: “The money taken from the property was the couple’s Christmas savings and they have been left devastated.”

Anyone with any information on the incident should police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
